This Season at Emmanuel…
Hey Everyone!
On Sunday, April 13, we begin a time of the Church Calendar coined Holy Week. It is a time in which we are invited to journey with Jesus through a series of encounters beginning with him riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. Then following his arrival in Jerusalem there is the night Jesus eats a final supper with his disciples, is betrayed by a friend, is tried as a common criminal, is put to death on a cross, is buried, and is mourned. Then the week culminates with Jesus’s resurrection from the dead.
There are five different services in which we will explore the nuances of these moments. You are welcome to attend and participate in any of the services. Each service will also be live-streamed.
Sometimes it’s easy for us to frame this week in a concrete kind of fashion, scripting it in a way that misses the dynamic choices that shaped the trajectory of the events. But if we open ourselves to the humanity found in these stories, we may gain a new appreciation for the man the people called Jesus, while being pulled deeper into the mystery of the Saviour named God-With-Us.
