Care & Support

Support Groups & Courses

Throughout the year we host a variety of Community Support Groups which provide a safe and engaging environment in which participants grow in their understanding of their shared struggles and support each other towards health, healing, and wholeness. All groups are facilitated by trained, compassionate volunteers and applications are open to all.

For more information about any of our Groups or Care Ministry courses, please contact Kari Elliott.

Food Security

Limited resources of time, finances, or energy can all make it difficult to keep on top of the consistent nutrition we need to function well in our selves. To help out when those resources are stretched, we offer a number of options to access, donate, or prepare to keep our community and our neighbourhoods well-fed. Find out more below!

Get involved

Contact Kari Elliott to learn more or to get involved with any of these opportunities.

  • Each month, Emmanuel works at providing additional food security for around 15 households through a donation-based food pantry program. Donors can choose one item to bring to the church on a monthly basis with suggested donations and quantities listed around $15/month.

Any extras we have are taken to the Riversdale Community Fridge or the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.

  • Food for Comfort is a team of volunteers who provide short-notice meals to support people going through stressful seasons in life such as surgery/hospitalization, extended illness, or a new baby. You can make a meal or order takeout and we're always looking for extra help!

  • Once a month volunteers gather to prepare a hot, well-rounded meal to deliver to households in the congregation who could use a little boost of care. We cook and eat together, then deliveries head out hot for 6pm.

  • Once a week we make sandwiches to be delivered to Prairie Harm Reduction. We always need help with donations of food & packaging supplies, sandwich preparation, and with delivery.

  • Our Care Ministry keeps a small freezer stocked with frozen meals, muffins, and cookies to fill in gaps for people where scheduled meal support is difficult.

If you'd like to help us stock the freezer, we just need clearly dated & labelled food to help us with dietary restrictions.

CARE FUND

Emmanuel’s Care Fund fund helps to provide a variety of confidential emergency supports to those in need throughout the year. Donations can be made year round by designating “Care Fund” on your offering envelope or by contacting our bookkeeper.

ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY NEEDS

Many agencies in the city have changing needs that we’d like to help with where we can. As often as we can we’ll highlight them on Instagram and in our bulletin.
